By the time we had received two bimonthly issues of Workamper News Sharon had decided we needed to upgrade to Workamper Plus. Among other things this meant that we would receive regular e-mails of work camper opportunities. It's never to early to start planning for next year. She upgraded on Saturday; on Monday we received the first e-mail. One of the opportunities was a position as campground host from October 15 to May 15 in Cortez, Colorado . Although the house is not ready to put on the market the opportunity sounded very tempting. I called the RV park and talked to one of the campground hosts. She suggested I e-mail a resume to the owner which I did. In Wednesday the owner called and after a chat he told us to come on out. We have our first assignment - the Sundance RV Park in Cortez, Co.!!!
Thanks to Live Your Road Trip Dream we had begun preliminary preparation and had an idea what we needed to do. The question is can we do waht we need to do. Clothing and supplies have been repacked several times to pare down unnecessary items, or just to make room. We must have the laptop and computer resources. The sewing machine, fabric, and quilting supplies are a priority. Oh yes, we should take a coat. And so on...
Should we tow a vehicle? When we got the RV that was not in the plans, but with the idea of being in one place for six months maybe we need another vehicle. My Toyota pickup would be the lightest to pull. Well, a tow plate and a towing bar are a little costly and checking the owners manual the RV shouldn't be pulling that much weight. Now we are thinking about buying a cheap vehicle when we get there.
Oh! The bicycles. Let's take the bicycles. We'll need a bike rack. And they haven't been ridden in more than 5 years; they better have a tune up.
Get out the warm clothing and extra blankets. Re pack the RV storage bins. Won't need the tent and summer gear.
We need a ladder on the RV and new vent covers. The ladder needs to be done at a Winnebago dealer - that can wait. Vent covers are installed.
The house can't be forgotten. I need to weed eat - that will take several days. And the hot tub needs to be drained and winterized. Things need to go to storage. The floors need to be cleaned and the carpets washed. All the vehicles need servicing. Then there's that wekly trip to the dump.
There's that appointment in Gainesville, GA for eye exams. And then to Murphy, NC to get frames
Did I forget? I'm working night audit (11 pm to 7 am) five nights a week in September. There was staffing issue and I volunteered to for the duty before I knew about our assignment. I need some sleep.
Is there really time enough? Stay tuned...
